Park Road to finally be resurfaced
The Lib Dems has been in repeated contact with the Highways team at AMEY to get Park Road resurfaced outside St. Hughes School. The resurfacing of the road is planned to go ahead in June.
Update (7th June 2024)
The resurfacing works outside of St. Hugh's on Park Road is now complete.
Cllr Will Frass
The Timperley Lib Dems have been pushing the Council to re-surface the stretch of Park Road outside St. Hugh's - patching it is not good enough. But Trafford always seemed to have other priorities.
As we have been saying to many residents on the doorsteps, Cllr Will Frass went as far as raising the issue formally through the Mayor in a public question to the whole Council - and the only thing the Labour Council could say was "they keep all roads under review".
It is now on the Programme for the first quarter of the 2024-25 financial year. The Lib Dems have asked for dates and Amey said:
"This should be done by the end of June"
When the yellow signs in the photo appeared, we checked with the contractors the signs are for re-surfacing. Good news:
"[Amey] can confirm that this sign refers to the planned resurfacing works on Park Road that are scheduled for the evening of 6th June."
When the Lib Dems raise issues like this, Labour tell us they don't like us using time in Council Meetings to answer questions about 'casework issues' and want Councillors to just send problems to the Amey contractors.
If the contract was delivering what it should, Councillors would not have to hold up the whole Council to get things done.
It's really important that whichever party is in power - local representatives should be able to ask questions to hold them to account on the issues that matter to people. That's the point.
