Norris Road to be resurfaced after Lib Dem pressure
The current state of Norris Road is the wrong type of hole-some, but the Lib Dems are looking to change that!
Trafford Lib Dems have been putting pressure on Trafford Council to re-surface significant stretches of Norris Road in Sale because it has become so bad it is getting dangerous.
At last there is some good news
Over recent weeks, when we have been out speaking to the residents we represent in Brooklands and Sale, many of you have taken the time to return our Surveys so we know about the issues that matter to you. The biggest issue that came up more than anything else, was the state of the potholes and crumbling surface on Norris Road.
So we took dozens of photos to prove to the Council that they had to act, but the Amey Contractors who are responsible for road repairs simply treated them as dozen of separate incidents are rejected them as not serious enough.
So Cllr Frass contacted the Head of Highways and the Executive Member for Highways. Cllr Frass argued that if you just look at one pothole you may decide to ignore it - but taken as a whole, the shear number of potholes makes the road dangerous. This is because:
There is a school halfway along Norris Road, so twice a day there are a lot of school children crossing the road, but drivers are distracted by avoiding potholes. This is an important local route for people traveling to Sale shops and business who live on Brooklands Road, Frammingham Road, Arcadia Avenue and all the roads which lead off those.
We have also heard concerns about the damage that regularly travelling on that road must be doing to people's cars.
Thankfully, we have now recieved confirmation that due to complaints, instead of just patching-in repairs, the Council are getting quotes to completely re-surface Norris Road from Craddock Road to North Parade.
This won't happen next week, but is due in the next 3 or 4 months. The good news is Norris Road does now has an allocation in the Council's budget - and when you get that, it means it will happen.
Thank you to everyone who took the time to return a survey - it helped us prove the how important the issue was.
