AMEY to trim Southfields & Threshfield hedges and trees

24 Aug 2023
Cllr Will Frass discovered the unusal problem as the land had reverted to the crown as no one acepted liability for it...

Hedge on Southfields Drive opposite Grange Avenue

This hedge stops people using the pavement easily and turns the adjacent grass into a mud track when people are forced to walk round.

Amey won't take responsibility because the land the hedge comes from is not Trafford Council land.

It turns out, the land marked ? on the screenshot is 'unowned'. I have been working with the Estates Department to track down the owner - but there is no Title Deed - so no-one is accepting liability.

After a lot of wrangling, I've persuaded Trafford to raise a works order to get it cut - should be done in the next few days.

BRAMBLES AND HOLLY BRANCHES ON THRESHFIELD PATH TO STOCKPORT ROAD

A neighbour pointed out there were lots of low hanging brambles and branches making it unpleasant to use the path.

I got Amey to cut them down the other week (but they initially left them on the path) - so I had to get them back to clear it away.

 NEXT: BLOCKED STREET LIGHTS

Work in progress.

Amey / Trafford did also promise to trim back the trees that obscure the lamp on the path at the end of Threshfield. When I was checking out the stuff above, I noticed street lights on Stockport Road bridge are also blocked - so I'll be asking Trafford to do those too.
